It should come as no surprise that I love Earth Month- it’s kind of what the city of Austin is about year round! Although my family is already very eco-conscious, I always try to use April as a personal challenge to further extend our attempts to reduce our footprint. This year I was all set for my newest, big challenge, generating zero packaging waste for a month- a doozie!- but then I realized that our kitchen remodel (a remodel balancing budget and eco-friendly choices, none the less) fell smack dab in the midst of my challenge month… and a refrigerator box seems like the most offensive type of packaging waste available. Foiled before I ever began. Boo!
Luckily for me, our friends at CleanWell are launching a new product and approached me with their own challenge- replace all of the hand soap in my house for two weeks with their new All-Natural Antibacterial Liquid Hand Soap. Yay!
Full disclosure- We generally use the CleanWell Foaming Hand Soap in our house already, but as we were staring down a steady of stream of contractors and workers I had already replaced it with run-of-the-mill liquid hand soap. I love the foamy stuff, but it is exceptionally easy to fly through a container in a week’s time and I just couldn’t see myself standing by the sinks in our house reminding grown men that “One pump is plenty!” when using the foam soap. So liquid soap is a necessity during a remodel that is generating frequent dirty hands. I’m sure that CleanWell didn’t know that they would be issuing a two week challenge to our remodel team as well!
Monday morning I made the swap, and I am already thrilled with the way I coordinated the scents- Orange Vanilla in the guest bath, Peppermint in the debacle that is our kitchen, and Lavender in our bathroom (Ahhh… Hey, if I can’t make it to the spa I can at least relax while washing my hands!) and I’ve got a watchful eye on the levels to see just how long the goodness lasts.
