We Want You To Meet…

1) Name: Bessy Barbeite

Age: 35

Kid(s) and Ages: David 9, Jacob 7

Where do you live? Miami, FL

Tell us about yourself…

Work life: I’m a full time blogger at www.simplybessy.com. What has been the biggest reward of motherhood? Anytime my kids hug me and tell me they love me without prompting them, it warms my heart and feels so rewarding. That and the moment my youngest stopped needing me to wipe him in the bathroom. Equally as rewarding to be honest.

What’s your best “mom-hack” you think other moms could benefit from? (We all one at least one time or sanity saving tip that everyone would want to know…spill it!) BABY WIPES! Take them anywhere and everywhere because they’re good for more than just wiping bums. I use baby wipes for cleaning my car, car seats, my purse, shopping carts, tables, boogers, to remove makeup…you get the idea. My kids are well into elementary school and baby wipes are still a must have for us.

What is the best part about where you live? Target is literally 5 minutes away from me.

Favorite thing to do with your kids in your hometown. Go to our local zoo or park for some time outdoors.

Favorite date night in your hometown. The movie theatre Cinebistro at Dolphin Mall. It’s one of those dining experiences so you get dinner and a movie in the theater in big seats that recline. Also, wine! Best date night ever.

What are 5 things that you could not “mom” without? Black leggings, coffee, sneakers, netflix for the kids, and my mom.

What are your 5 must-have items in your diaper bag? Even though my kids are big and well beyond diaper years I actually still love using diaper bags because they’re made for moms. My 5 must-have items are baby wipes, first aid kit, water bottle, sunscreen and an extra phone charger.

When you have time to yourself, what do you like to do? Zone out and watch trashy TV

Who are your “mom” idols? My mom is legit a superwoman. I wish I were half the mom she was (still is) for me.

Who is in your mom tribe and how did you meet them? It may be corny but I kind of feel my Instagram friends are my mom tribe. I can count on them to be there when I need tips, advice, or even if I just need to rant.

What is one piece of advice for new moms that you wish someone told you before motherhood? This is hard but it’s okay. You are allowed to fail and make mistakes but you will get through it and find your own way.

How do you balance it all? I don’t. I rely heavily on support from my husband and family. I don’t believe anyone truly balances it all, we all just try to do the best we can.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? In this moment, Broken & Beautiful by Kelly Clarkson is really sticking out. Love the message in the song and I resonate with it so much.

Tell us a little bit about your blog/IG account/online persona and what is your mission behind it. My blog, Simply Bessy, is my passion. I aim to connect with moms that are just like me; scared that we are doing it all wrong but able to laugh at ourselves in the process. My mission is to make moms feel okay about not being okay. It’s fine to mess up and it’s good to ask for help. I hope to reach moms that are struggling with anxiety, depression, or have a special needs child and create a space where they feel seen on social media. I just like to keep it real and hope it resonates with other moms. www.simplybessy.com Instagram.com/bessybarbeite Facebook.com/simplybessy Twitter.com/bessybarbeite Pinterest.com/simplybessy

Work life: Currently a SAHM and blogger & online shop owner.

What has been the biggest reward of motherhood? Being able to stay at home and watch every stage of my little ones grow to be kind, loving humans.

What’s your best “mom-hack” you think other moms could benefit from? (We all one at least one time or sanity saving tip that everyone would want to know…spill it!) Have a ROUTINE (set daily schedule). Having a routine for my little ones is how I am able to get things done.

What is the best part about where you live? I love our neighborhood. It’s great for walks and it feels safe to raise a family.

Favorite thing to do with your kids in your hometown. Play outdoors, go to the park, head to the beach, and go to the zoo.

Favorite date night in your hometown. Walks on the beach and dinner by the beach as well.

What are 5 things that you could not “mom” without? Boppy pillow, children’s books, magnet letters, my double stroller, baby-wearing carrier.

What are your 5 must-have items in your diaper bag? Waterwipes, Buttpaste, extra onesies, extra toddler underwear, sunscreen.

When you have time to yourself, what do you like to do? Take a LONG shower! Read. And work on my blog, and online shop.

Who are your “mom” idols? My mom who had 8 kids (I’m the youngest); My mother-in-law who is the sweetest of all; My pastor who is a Colombian Senator and mom of 5.

Who is in your mom tribe and how did you meet them? My mom tribe are my sister and best friends. We met at church since our youth days.

What is one piece of advice for new moms that you wish someone told you before motherhood? To be prepared mentally and emotional for the lack of sleep which is the toughest part especially if you’re breastfeeding because it means that you will be the one waking up every 2-3 hours at night for about 5 weeks straight!

How do you balance it all? To be honest, JESUS. I lean on Him completely. And also, my husband who is the best father to our babies. He’s superdad! And also being highly disciplined with our daily routine. It’s what keeps me sane and makes me actually get things done with joy.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You by Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons

Tell us a little bit about your blog/IG account/online persona and what is your mission behind it. My mission behind my blog is to encourage women (pregnant and new mommies) to view motherhood in a positive light. When I was pregnant with my first-born, I remember reading a lot of negative things about pregnancy and motherhood and felt like it can scare women from truly enjoying this wonderful stage. I want to show a different side of motherhood that perhaps society fails to demonstrate – that although there are ups and downs, overall, motherhood is the most extraordinary stage in a women’s life. www.ARaadStory.com www.instagram.com/ARaadStory www.facebook.com/ARaadStory www.twitter.com/ARaadStory www.pinterest.com/ARaadStory https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC89ZC-NpRFwkZWJJ4Bix5PQ

2) Name: Jenise Subervi

Age: 33

Kid(s) and Ages: Caleb – 4, Chloe – 14 months

Where do you live? Coral Gables, FL

Tell us about yourself…

Work life. I’m a former special education teacher turned stay-at-home mom turned blogger and photographer. I blog about motherhood and the realities of being a mom, and maintaining your “self” while doing so. I’m a portrait and lifestyle photographer, too.

What has been the biggest reward of motherhood? The biggest reward of motherhood has been watching these little people grow into real humans with thoughts and personalities and manners, and knowing that I did that. An unexpected reward has been finding this version myself that is empowered and feels whole.

What’s your best “mom-hack” you think other moms could benefit from? (We all one at least one time or sanity saving tip that everyone would want to know…spill it!) I keep an emergency kit in my car – extra diapers, an extra pack of wipes, a towel, extra clothes for the kids and for myself, a quiet activity book, a blanket, and small garbage bags. It has come in so handy on days when blowouts happen or when we are out later than expected and I run out of supplies in my diaper bag. Also, grocery delivery services are worth every penny. I order my groceries on Sunday night and schedule them to be delivered for Monday morning before 7 am. We start off the week with groceries, and it actually saves us money because we don’t make impulse buys like we do when we are at the grocery store. It also cuts out the stress of going to the grocery store, scheduling grocery trips around naps, and making it out before my kids have a meltdown.

What is the best part about where you live? The sunshine and the culture. My grandparents emigrated from Cuba, and my husband was born in the Dominican Republic. I love having all this culture and Latin flavor all around us, and it makes me happy to see my kids immersed in the culture that I consider such a huge part of myself.

Favorite thing to do with your kids in your hometown. Go to the beach! We don’t get there enough I think, but everyone is always happy and relaxed when we are there!

Favorite date night in your hometown. There is always a new restaurant opening up somewhere in Miami. We love to scout out new restaurants – and hit up some old favorites, too.

What are 5 things that you could not “mom” without? My husband, grocery delivery services, Blueberry Pediatrics (an online doctor on demand service), bribery, and coffee!

What are your 5 must-have items in your diaper bag? Snacks, wipes, hand sanitizer, diaper disposal bags, a change of clothes.

When you have time to yourself, what do you like to do? Exercise, get a manicure, or grab a coffee solo.

Who are your “mom” idols? My own mom! She has taught me so much about being a good mom, but also about making sure you are taking care of yourself so you can take care of everyone around you.

Who is in your mom tribe and how did you meet them? I have a group of friends who I met in college through my husband (my boyfriend at the time), and we all had kids within months of one another. We share parenting wins, fails, we encourage one another, and we laugh together.

What is one piece of advice for new moms that you wish someone told you before motherhood? Trust your instincts. You know your kids better than anyone. Also, take the help. It’s not always easy to let go of the reigns, but you will be a better mom for it.

How do you balance it all? I don’t! I have come to realize that true balance is unattainable. There are times of the year where I am much busier with work than others. Those times of the year, I spend long hours in front of the computer and away at photo shoots, and my kids eat a lot of macaroni and cheese or food we pick up on the way home. But there are other times where I don’t have much work at all and I get to be at everything with both kids, I get to bake for them and cook healthy meals for them. Once I realized that it was okay not to “do it all,” and that there is a lot more ebb and flow than there is balance, it has made it much easier to come to terms with the fact that I may not achieve balance for a while yet.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? When You’re Smiling by Michael Buble – I’m always smiling, and I feel like the whole world would be a lot better if everyone was just a little happier.

Tell us a little bit about your blog/IG account/online persona and what is your mission behind it: My blog, A Toddler & A Topknot is all about motherhood. I really try to focus on the fact that we are moms, yes, but we were someone before we became someone’s mom, and it’s okay to want to be someone besides Mom, too. My kids are the biggest thing in my life right now, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t want to have a life of my own and take care of myself so I can be the best version of myself for them. I want moms to know that it’s okay to want to look cute and put together on a daily basis, but if they want to rock yoga pants and a topknot every day, that’s okay too! On my blog I share anecdotes about motherhood, lessons I’ve learned, and tips, tricks, products, lists and recipes for surviving it all. On Instagram  I share the realities of my day-to-day life and how I go from mom to photographer to wife and back again. The ups, the downs, and the cute little moments in between everything. I share style and beauty tips, and some of my favorite products that make my life better. I hope to see you around there!

We Want You To Meet…

4) Name: Daniela Dimas

Age: 30

Kid(s) and Ages: Ariana and Camila, age 2.

Where do you live? Miami, Florida.

Tell us about yourself…

Work life:  I’m currently juggling a few things at once. I recently launched an online children’s clothing shop www.shopchildrensdepot.com where we offer the cutest on-trend clothing for the little ones. This has been a dream of mine for the longest and with I was finally able to make it a reality. Additionally, I work full-time for my family’s wholesale business where I’m in charge of the finances and sales as well as anything else that is essential for our company.

What has been the biggest reward of motherhood? I don’t think anything compares to the joy that motherhood brings. I never knew how much my heart could hold until I became a mother. My biggest reward is seeing my daughters always happy and feeling loved because it shows that my husband and I are doing a good job as parents, although we second guess ourselves all the time. Motherhood is the hardest job in the world and nothing compares to seeing your kids happy and fulfilled.

What’s your best “mom-hack” you think other moms could benefit from? (We all one at least one time or sanity saving tip that everyone would want to know…spill it!) I would say it’s the routine I created for them since they were infants. It has been our lifesaver and I believe it to be the reason they have slept 12+ hours at night since 7 months old. BOTH. No one ever believed me when I told them I would get my whole, uninterrupted, 8 hours of sleep at night. Create one that works for them and for you, and stick to it no matter what!

What is the best part about where you live? I love Miami! The diversity of cultures, nationalities, and food! I also love that it’s always sunny and the beach is just a drive away.

Favorite thing to do with your kids in your hometown. Definitely the zoo, always a great idea and they enjoy it so much. Also, the beach! My daughters love the beach and could spend hours playing in the sand.

Favorite date night in your hometown. My husband and I love our dinner and cocktails dates followed by dancing. We love dancing and listening to music.

What are 5 things that you could not “mom” without? 1. As cliché as it may sound, I could not mom without my husband. When you are a twin parent, you need all the hands you can get and since day 1 my husband has been 100% hands on. Diaper changes, baths, feeding, you name it. I can’t imagine doing this without him by my side. 2. My parents and parents in law. They are my strength and greatest help (and the reason we get to go on dates often haha). 3. As I mentioned earlier, my routine. 4. The internet. Everything is a click away. 5. Music, it makes everything so much better and fun.

What are your 5 must-have items in your diaper bag? I don’t carry a diaper bag anymore but disinfecting wipes are still a must. Regular wipes, Tylenol, Buttpaste and water bottle.

When you have time to yourself, what do you like to do? The only time I get to myself is late at night so the only hour I have, I use it to write blog posts or catch up on my favorite shows when I really need a break from it all.

Who are your “mom idols?” Definitely my mom. I have never met a stronger and more dedicated woman as my mother. Her sacrifice and will to better herself and her family is what I admire most. She has shown me how the love of a mother goes beyond anything in this world.

Who is in your mom tribe and how did you meet them? My high school friends. We’ve been through it all together and always stayed close no matter what. Also, I recently joined an amazing group of mothers (Miami Moms Blog) who share the same love and passion for all things motherhood. It takes a village and as mothers, we need all the support we can get.

What is one piece of advice for new moms that you wish someone told you before motherhood? There’s no such thing as a perfect mom, but you are perfect for your kids. We all make mistakes and learn as we go. Motherhood is a never ending learning process.

How do you balance it all? I don’t, I’m still trying to figure it out. There’s days I feel extremely overwhelmed juggling so many things at once and there’s others when I feel I overthink too much and it isn’t as hard as I believe. One thing I’ve learned in the process is that it’s okay to take a break every once in a while. You don’t have to have it all together all the time.

Tell us a little bit about your blog/IG account/online persona and what is your mission behind it:  I use social media as a way to connect to other moms and women who inspire me. Motherhood is a beautiful and overwhelming journey and I like to share my everyday adventures as a twin mama for anyone who can appreciate and gain something from it. Motherhood isn’t perfect and I like to show my reality and experiences. I love to talk about marriage and the importance of making it a priority as well as everything that comes with being a parent. You can follow my personal account @danielacdimas and @shopchildrensdepot for some adorable children’s clothing!
