Dr Andrea Mazza, Dr Wagner, Dr Jennifer Keller
Do you have kid(s) and if so, what are their ages?
We have 6 young kids between the three of us–fun fact- we each have one son and one daughter. We cherish our little ones and have found that parenthood has enriched our work, too!
If you do have kids, what tips do you have to help juggle work life with family life?
We are committed to our work and to our families but it isn’t always easy to be pulled in multiple directions. Find a schedule and a system that works for you (it isn’t one size fits all!). In the midst of it all, carve out time to take care of yourself, so that you have the energy to take care of others and enjoy life. Set limits and boundaries and know that you are doing the best you can!
Favorite part about living in the Chicagoland area?
While Dr. Wagner is the only native Chicago-lander of our group (Dr. Keller is from Boston and Dr. Mazza the resident Canadian)– we all share a love for Chicago and all it has to offer! When we are not at work, we can be found exploring the area with our families, indulging in the city’s food scene (sushi is our collective favorite!), being active on the lakefront, or cheering on the Cubs in baseball season (OK, maybe not Dr. Keller- she’s stayed loyal to her Red Sox!) Although we could all do without the intense winters, Chicago’s energy in the summertime–walking around the city, attending festivals, or family beach days–makes it all worth it for us.
What is one piece of advice for new parents that you would like to share?
Enjoy the ride. Embrace the uncertainty of all it. Live outside your comfort zone. Take risks. And most of all, remember that life does not have to be perfect to be wonderful!
