We are so excited to showcase this week’s BCB MomIRL, Zara Terez Tisch, wonderwoman NYC designer and Founder of Terez Activewear! You’ve likely seen her amazing activewear collection that encourages all women to embrace their individuality and find joy in self expression! Her collections include women, girls and maternity — woot woot! — and are always high quality with super fun, bold and unique designs – perfect for ALL personalities and helping empower women to feel confident & take on the world! And pssst, BCB Founder, Lindsay Pinchuk’s two girls are OBSESSED with Zara’s bright & bold leggings & have drawers jam-packed with them!
Like many, Terez, too, has had a long journey getting to where she is today. There have been many personal and business challenges and hard life experiences. Along with celebrations, lessons and triumphs! Her family and friends have been the core and the stability through it all and the reason she is who she is today. She didn’t study fashion but she grew up in the industry. Her mother was a small accessories designer and her dad was a dress manufacturer in New York so it was in her blood, but it was never the goal for her. Fashion became the outlet she used to describe everything she was feeling, everything she wanted to feel and to connect with other people.
Zara loves being around people and bringing people together – you can tell from her very large family that includes 3 kids under 3 (in November), 2 dogs, an amazing group of friends and rockstar company! She is trying her best to take advantage of what life has to offer. The GOOD parts in life. That’s why Terez was born – to create a community, bring people together and focus on joy and happiness. She tries to live by that everyday.

We want you to meet our BCB #MomIRL…
Name: Zara Terez Tisch
Kid(s) and Ages: Elle Jay, 3, Ty, 2, baby girl in belly
Where do you live? New York
What are the 5 things you never leave home without (other than your phone)? Hmmmm…. i guess it depends what i am doing… BUT i guess first would be a kiss from my kids, my glasses, peeing before I leave, earrings and water/coconut water.
If there were 1 product or service that’s helped you survive motherhood, what is it? Not denying that I needed help and being fortunate enough to have a baby nurse and then a nanny. These extraordinary women have helped to guide me through their experiences with children they have cared for before and I truly don’t know what I would do without them.
What are the 3 most useful products you loved when you had a baby? For myself: at home hospital pump, postpartum belly bands and cocoa butter oil. For my baby: water wipes (from baby until the rest of their lives), aquaphor and the Nose Frida.
What’s your go-to easy family dinner? So one thing is for sure…I never do anything “easy” – I wish I could! But what I consider to be an easy family dinner to cook is pasta, with homemade bolognese sauce.
How do you balance it all? Do you have any #momhacks to share that makes this easier? I don’t think it’s actually possible to “balance” it all – I don’t think balance is a real term here – but it’s a nice goal 🙂 For me, I do the best I can do. Sometimes I’m overwhelmed and don’t think I can do it at all and sometimes I can hardly believe my eyes. But I do my best. What I have found to be most helpful is trying to carve out time in my calendar for family vs. work so that everyone in my life is aware and I can make sure to spend time in all areas of my life doing what I love.
Talk to us about mom guilt…do you have it? Haha I feel guilty and question whether or not I’m a good mom, if I’m not around for something special (which I try my hardest to be at everything!) – so what do i do? I cry… I definitely cry…. hahaha I cry to my husband David at night and then the next morning I usually feel better and tell myself “you got this.”
What is 1 thing no one really knows about you? I’m pretty transparent so I’m unsure… there are probably life stories? But I always tell those too because I love listening to and telling life stories.
What message do you think every woman should hear? The future is equal.
What motivates you most? This is probably a bad answer, but pressure…. when I am put under pressure either in a positive way or challenging way – I definitely feel the most motivated.
What’s at least 1 regular family routine you have implemented to keep your family running smooth? David and I love, love putting the kids to bed. We have a little routine that we go through and I think it’s the best way to all come together at the end of a day and just be a family.
Who is in your mom tribe and how did you meet them? So it’s kind of funny. I am fortunate enough to be best friends with the same group of women since i was 10 years old. I think made my core best friends in college. When I was pregnant with Elle Jay (my first), David, my husband, told me I was going to have to make all these new mom friends. I told him that I do love meeting people, but I don’t think I need a whole set of new friends – I have the ones I have had my entire life. After he put some pressure on me I decided that I would show him and go out and make the BEST of mom friends. So i did! And to be honest, he was right and i have the mom tribe around. When Elle Jay was 3months old I would reach out to people that I kind of knew and asked them to join a music class at my home. Then that turned into 4, into 6 and so on. I am so grateful to have these women to lean on during quite a new and unique journey in my life. Some of us then went on and had our 2nd children at the same time. We have created such a beautiful community of families that care and support one another.
What is one piece of advice for new moms that you wish someone told you before motherhood? Probably to brace yourself for labor, delivery and the hospital (and for me a c-section) I definitely was told only about the easy births….
When you have time to yourself, what do you like to do? Lay in bed and watch new movies or movies that I have seen 100s of times!
