Our 2020 Gearapalooza Tour kicks off in Austin on Sunday, March 1st! While we can’t wait to bring our ultimate baby gear and registry event to ATX, we also want to spend some time this week introducing you to some of the most amazing moms we’ve met in Austin over the last decade. ICYMI, BCB is celebrating a decade of community in 2020!
We are so lucky to have these amazing women as a part of BCB. Most of them will also be joining us at Gearapalooza so be sure to stop by and say hi! Check them out and why we love them so much.
We Want You To Meet…
Name: Kaylee Baggerly
Age: 30
Kid(s) and Ages: Adelaide (two) and William (seven weeks)
Ten years ago, what were you doing & how is that different from your life now?
I was in college and without kiddos! I thought I wanted to be a diplomat!
Where did you learn about BCB? What has been your experience with BCB throughout the last ten years.
BCB reached out to me in 2019 and I’ve been coming to the ATX Gearapalooza events ever since!
What have you learned from BCB?
I LOVE Gearapalooza! Jamie Grayson was so helpful in teaching me about car seats and the vendors, especially ones that sold organic, pre-made baby food for delivery ,were a life-saver with my second kiddo!
What are FIVE must-have products that have gotten you through the last decade?
Give us your NUMBER ONE TIP for practicing self-care: Try to spend some time just on yourself every single day. Even if it’s just a fifteen minute run or walk, taking care to make your cup full means you can help fill up others’. Every day might look a little bit different, but that’s what balance is – giving yourself grace even if it’s in fifteen minute increments 🙂
What is your FAVORITE beauty product and why?
What was the number one surprise about motherhood?
That there really are no breaks! Even when your kids are OK, or you’re out with your spouse, you are thinking about, talking about and reminiscing about how great they are and how much you love them and wanting to make sure they are safe, happy and thriving!
What is the number one lesson you’ve learned from another mom and who did you learn it from?
Kids grow up fast, but the time we have with them is so fleeting that if they want cuddles now, do it. Get Disney+ and binge some TV and snuggle when they are sick. Put away the phone and be present. Don’t always focus on having a clean house…and if you’re working, it is OK to have a career and grow that while having a family. It might be messy, it might be chaotic, and you might feel guilty, but every single mom feels some type of guilt at one point.
Having intentional, strong relationships with your kids AND a career CAN be done; being happy yourself is something your kids will notice… after all, they grow up so fast and one day you’ll look back and let me tell you, you won’t think ‘wow my house was SO clean,’ instead you’ll think ‘wow I had so much intentional quality time with my kids, where I got to enjoy them and we could love up on each other…and I got to love myself and teach them how to pursue their dreams, too .’ My mother in law shared this with me 😊
What’s the one piece of advice you would like to share with other expecting or new moms?
Find your tribe because they will be the ones to help hold you up, build you up and support you through the highs and lows as fellow women who have gone through pregnancy and motherhood and truly DO know what you’re going thru. Oh, and figure out childcare if you’re working as soon as you can (and budget for it — why is it SO expensive?!).
What’s your favorite part about your kids’ ages now? What are the lessons you have learned from them?
My two year old can have conversations with us and can play with us (she makes tea parties everything night for her parents and all of her dolls); she’s teaching us the magic of imagination and care for others. Our newborn sleeps ~ten hours most nights so I can have some one on one time with the hubby; he is teaching us patience, especially when both kids are crying or demanding attention at the same time!!
What are your best tips to create memories for your family?
Put the phones away and get outside. Make a weekly ritual; ours is our favorite kid-play-friendly restaurant with a movie or toddler-friendly game night every Friday. We try to spend time with our kids god-parents/extended family every Sunday, too.
How did you make the most of your maternity leave? I am blessed and got about eight months with both of my children from my full-time job. I used my first one to start up my blog and IG page and built it into a business to help moms go back to work OR start up a new business. I am continuing to use my time off this second time to focus on my family, especially since my husband has twelve weeks of paternity leave, and continue to grow my BBDMomtribe and business this year!
Favorite parenting/momlife/childhood quote: You can have it all. Just not everything at the same time.
Most embarrassing thing your child(ren) has ever done in public: My toddler told our pediatrician after I delivered our second baby that I had a ‘boo boo’ on my butt (in reference to my Depends panties)!
