We Want You To Meet…
Name: Tara Clark
Age: 39 (almost 40)
Kid(s) and Ages: Jack, seven
Where do you live? Just outside of NYC in Northern NJ
Ten years ago, what were you doing and how is that different from your life now? Ten years ago, I was working at Nickelodeon living on the Upper East Side. My husband and I were trying desperately to start a family, but biology had other plans. Now ten years later, I have a, incredible seven year old son and I work from home in my house in NJ doing my dream job running a parenting IG account.
What have you learned from BCB? What I love about BCB is that it always provides the best information for parents-to-be! It shares the secrets of the best must-have products for parents and babies!
What are FIVE must-have products that have gotten you through the last decade?
Hard question…
1.) I loved my UppaBaby stroller. It was my biggest “must-have” while living in NYC with a baby and toddler.
2.) Thermos sippy cups: I love their quality. They last forever.
3.) Love love love Aden and Anais swaddle clothes. Is there anything they can’t do?!? They are my go-to baby shower gift for friends.
4.) Can I say my cell phone?! Ok. My cell phone.
5.) I love making smoothies for my son in our Ninja Bullet. He’s a selective eater so it’s one of the best ways to get him to eat or drink his veggies.
Give us your NUMBER ONE TIP for practicing self-care. Self-care is very important to me as it should be for every parent. My #1 tip would be to unplug from your cell phone every now and again to reclaim your time and mental well-being.
What are the top three registry items from your baby registry?
1.) Those swaddle sleeper sacks
2.) Aden and Anais muslin cloths
What are your FAVORITE beauty products and why? Wow! That’s a big question!! Lately, I have really been into Thrive Causemetics. Their brands are top notch quality and for every purchase made, they donate to help a woman thrive. It’s good for everyone!
Your NUMBER ONE tip for keeping your marriage/relationship with your significant other on point. Showing your partner attention. In this modern world of distraction, it’s important to show your partner that you find them interesting and special.
What was the number one surprise about motherhood? How lonely it is to be a new mom. Being a new mom is rough, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Then add some loneliness on top of it.
What is the number one lesson you’ve learned from another mom and who did you learn it from? Embrace the messiness. My friend Holly.
What would you tell yourself ten years ago? I would tell myself that you DO have a baby and he’s AMAZING! Don’t give up. Keep trying!
What’s the one piece of advice you would like to share with other expecting or new moms? Ask for help… from your partner, from your doctor, your siblings, your parents, the lady at the supermarket, any one you trust.
What’s one message that you think ALL WOMEN should hear? YOU ARE POWERFUL. (using the BIG CAPS there)
What’s your favorite part about your kids’ ages now? What are the lessons you have learned from them? Although I loved when my son was a baby, he was a challenging toddler. So having said that, I LOVE everything about being six and seven now. It’s awesome. I feel like we’re on Easy Street until the next time comes up.
What are your best tips to create memories for your family? We are REALLY big into experiences. My son is not into many extra-curriculars activities or sports. So that makes more time for family time together. We are constantly going to this thing or that place. It’s a blast having diverse experiences.
Favorite parenting/momlife/childhood quote: It’s one of mine. “When your children try to make you laugh, laugh. They love to hear your laughter as much as you love to hear theirs.”
Most embarrassing thing your child(ren) has ever done in public: Oh gosh… It usually involves him wanting to open the bathroom stall door prematurely before I finish going. It happens too often!

Name: Jacqueline Hernandez Lewis
Age: 31
Kid(s) and Ages: Two boys, three and five years and 22 months
Where do you live? Long Island, NY
Work life: I currently work from home full-time as a blogger and content creator for my company Moments of Musing, and as a communications manager for a nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of intimate partner violence. Up until October, I worked as a lawyer at the organization. My blogging and social media experience really enabled me to transition from law to a remote communications position.
What’s your best “mom/dad-hack” you think other moms could benefit from? (We all one at least one time or sanity saving tip that everyone would want to know…spill it!) I most often use our tandem double stroller when we go shopping (unless it’s a big grocery haul)! I don’t have to worry about germs on the carts, and if one or both boys get tired they can nap while I shop my mama heart out!
What is the best part about where you live? We live within close proximity to New York City but far away enough that we have more space and a calmer lifestyle in the suburbs. I have to admit I am still adjusting to suburban living since I was born and raised in Brooklyn.
Favorite thing to do with your kids in your hometown. My favorite thing to do in Brooklyn, aside from visit family and friends, is to take the boys downtown and show them the city skyline My favorite thing to do with the kids on Long Island is to explore the different parks and farms.
Favorite date night in your hometown. My favorite date night in Long Island has been dinner at the Oheka Castle. It is beautiful and it feels like you’re in a fairy tale when there.
What are 5 things that you could not “mom/dad” without?
What are your 5 must-have items in your diaper bag?
When you have time to yourself, what do you like to do? I write. It helps me cope with many of the feelings I experience as a mom, and I love connecting with others through my writing.
Who are your “mom/dad idols”? My parents! I admire my mom for being a SAHM, especially now that I am home full-time. It’s not easy! My dad worked so much to provide for us and I am grateful to him for sacrificing time with us to do so. We all get to enjoy a lot more time together these days and I treasure it very much.
Who is in your mom/dad tribe and how did you meet them? My parents and my brother are the key members of my tribe. They would drop anything to be there for us. My family, best friends from high school, and sorority sisters, and co-workers are all people I have leaned on for support and advice. I am lucky to have them all.
What is one piece of advice for new moms/dads that you wish someone told you before mother/fatherhood? Being a mom isn’t easy or without challenges. In fact, it can be hard and can be overwhelming. The learning curve is tremendous, and really, the only way to learn how to mother is to become one. There’s no real way to prepare. There are no guides or books that can tell us what it will truly be or feel like. 𝘞𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘪𝘵. That means mistakes and missteps are bound to happen. The most important thing is that our kids are happy, healthy and well-adjusted, that we love them with a love that protects and supports them. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞.
How do you balance it all? Hmm I don’t. I like to say I juggle it all, instead, occasionally dropping the ball along the way. It’s not easy being a mom and wife, while pursuing a career and business, and taking care of a house but I am trying my best. I think trying my best to ditch my mom guilt and instead embrace mom grace has helped me feel confident in and content with everything I do.
If you had a theme song, what would it be? “Vivir My Vida” by Marc Anthony. I just love the message of living, loving and enjoying life despite trials and tribulations.
Tell us a little bit about your blog/IG account/online persona and what is your mission behind it: At Moments of Musing, I write from a place of love to myself, to my family, and to all of you.
