Tell us a bit about yourself– how’d you get started?

Hi! I am from Aspen, Colorado and always had a love for jewelry and the sentimental value behind it. I started a jewelry line as a creative outlet while I held other jobs.

What did you do before jewelry and how did you know this was your passion?

What didn’t I do? It’s been a journey.  After working in ad sales I was an e-commerce and creative director. I loved that world but I’ve always been creative.  I was drawn to jewelry and wanted to have my own company.

Do you have a team helping you build your brand?

I do now and couldn’t do it without them. It’s a lot more fun to have a team to share the success with.

How do you balance being a mom and having a successful career? Any tips you’d give to other working moms?

I always think work life balance is a funny way to put it. I don’t want to spend 50% of my time working and 50% of my time with my family. I’d like the scale to tip to spending more time with my family so I’ve been lucky enough to create a world that allows for that. It’s not without sacrifice and it often can feel like I’m juggling a lot—but I like the juggle. I take it one day at a time. My children are young and they won’t always need me the way they do now so I am embracing that.

What was the number one surprise about motherhood?

It completely changed my priorities. It’s the best and worst job all at the same time.

Best parenting advice you have ever received.

Go with your instincts.

Best business advice you have ever received.

Go with your instincts.

What’s the best advice YOU give to other moms or mom hacks you swear by?

Don’t listen to other mothers. All children are different and require different parenting. Children understand more than you realize.

What’s your favorite part about your kids’ ages now?  What are the lessons you have learned from them?

They are so fun! I am constantly trying to be a better person for them to set a good example. They keep me young and creative and constantly remind me the most important things in life are family.

During this pandemic, what are some lessons you have learned…

About motherhood?

I’ve been reminded how all we really need is family. The pandemic slowed down everyone’s schedules and my children were happy to keep it simple. A good nature walk goes a long way.

About business?

I’ve learned to think on my toes and be able to pivot to stay relevant to what’s going on in the world around you.

Under normal circumstances, what are the top 5 things you never leave home without?

Snacks for me. Phone. An extra layer of clothes. Head phones. A snack for my kids.

Who is your biggest supermom hero?

Me! Honestly the job ain’t easy and so I try to go easy on myself and be appreciative of my patience, unconditional love, effort, etc.

Biggest mom fail?

Oh geez. Probably something daily. Let’s ask my kids.

What is your proudest mom moment?

That my children are empathetic. I don’t know if that is taught but I am so proud to see them care about each other and the people around them.

What is your proudest business moment?

That my employees seem generally happy everyday to work for Alexa Leigh. We try to celebrate the little wins and the big wins and have been fortunate enough to have a lot of them lately!

Bonus Question!  Fave piece from your line?!

That’s a tough question and tends to change with my mood. I never take off my 2mm band so I’m gonna go with that!
