Here at BCB we know that “resolutions” are hard and often unrealistic. We’re all parents or parents-to-be, balancing a million things on our plates and just trying to get through the day. But at the same time, we also know that many of us often put ourselves last, and forget about our own mental and physical well-being. In an effort to organize, plan and think about the year ahead, our team recently talked about some of the goals (not resolutions), but goals they each had for the new year. Check them out.
Lindsay Pinchuk, Founder
I love to read and haven’t done much of it in the last decade (I am embarrassed to admit it!) After reading a ton over the holidays, I forgot why I loved reading so much. I plan to read more in 2021—my goal is 20 books this year.
I feel so much better when I drink water, I plan to have my water bottle filled at all times with me so that I can drink at least 72 oz a day.
Put my phone away away when I am with my kids. Now more than ever they want my attention, my love and I hate when I am distracted.
My goal is to break a sweat at least five times a week. I got a Peloton for my 40th birthday, and while I love it, I have not made it much of a priority. (See the reading example above.) My goal is to get to my 100th ride by end of February, and with an amped up schedule hit 200 by the end of June.
Find a way to spend one on one time with each of my girls every week. Even if it’s just driving through Starbucks together to get out of the house.
Helen Malkin, Senior Account Director
Go to bed by 11pm school nights – no more late night Netflix binging!
Actually get dressed for work from home Monday-Thursday – NOT loungewear, clothes with buttons and zippers 😊, to improve work mindset and productivity
Morning constitution walk with dog Maxie Monday-Thursday AM to gather thoughts before starting the work day
Walk 4 nights per week with son David and husband Marc – best conversations happen with our son during these walks
Drink at least 64 oz water each day
Sunset picnic dinners on Friday nights with Marc (husband) – get out of the house, but not at a restaurant
Self-Care Sundays (try new hobbies like embroidery, read)
Emily Weiss, Director, Strategic Partnerships
I want to read 52 Books in 2021.
I plan to practice mindful eating and being more vegan.
Challenge myself physically-do something active every day.
Add more documentaries to my must-watch list.
I will continue to donate blood.
If I can, I want to possibly donate my hair at end of 2021.
I am really going to try hard to be more patient with everything and everyone.
Lindsey Stellar, Director Strategy & Innovation
We have acquired an impressive collection of stuff since moving into this house and having three children. I’d like to declutter and simplify what we hold onto.
With three kids I feel like I’m always making meals and snacks, so I’d like to start meal prepping to ensure I’m offering local and healthy options and not just what’s easy in the moment.
I’d like to spend more focused 1-on-1 time with each of my children and create special activities/traditions with each of them separately.
Staci Smith, Director of Consumer Engagement
To workout each day to become healthier. I plan to start cycling 10 mins per day and work up to an hour.
Start cooking more. I would like to cook four meals per week.
I’d like to focus on the positive things in life to keep us happier and more centered. Once a week I want to sit down with the family and discuss the things that were good and made us happy that week. Even in the wake of 2020, we were able to go around the table in New Year’s and discuss all of the positive things that have come out of this past year.
Katie Blozis, Director of Business Development
I haven’t set any 2021 goals, like to set the bar low to eliminate the chance of more failure around here. 😉
Abbe Herman, Director of Events
Ditto to Katie (above), LOL.
