With summer started and kids heading off to both day camp and overnight camps we want to make sure they’re headed out the door prepared! Here to share some Summer Camp Must Haves is parenting expert and founder of the online community, Bump Club and Beyond, Lindsay Pinchuk.
Mabel’s Labels: First thing’s first, whether you’re sending your kids to day camp or overnight camp there is one rule everyone must follow: EVERYTHING MUST BE LABELED. This is a must, especially if you’re planning on seeing any of the items again. I love Mabel’s Labels and have used them for my own kids for years! They’re easy to use, washable and they come in almost every design and pattern out there. I couldn’t get my kids ready for camp without Mabel’s Labels. Use the code BCB10 for 10% off!
Coppertone Pure & Simple Kids Sunscreen: Finding a sunscreen everyone loves is nearly impossible. But we’ve been using this in our house for the last month or so and my kids love it. Sun protection is a MUST for camp and general outdoors, and the Coppertone Pure & Simple line now offers a NEW easy to use spray format for both babies and kids that provides 100% mineral sun protection based on zinc oxide just in time for the summer. My kids also love it because it doesn’t dry out their skin as it’s formulated with nourishing botanical extracts and 100% naturally sourced zinc oxide. With my kids’ sensitive skin, this hypoallergenic sunscreen nourishes while still providing UVA and UVB protection. The BIG BONUS: it rubs in easily and quickly so you can focus on having fun in the sun.
Bug Repellent: I love these options as both are deet free. If we were going into the deep woods, I may choose a different more potent option, but for every day protection from mosquitos and ticks, I love both of these. Babyganics offers a deet free option and new this year they have a continual spray. OFF Botanicals is another great option.
Hydroflask 32 Oz Wide Mouth Bottle, $44.95: This is the number-one selling reusable bottle that will keep your campers cool and hydrated all day long during those hot summer months. Hydro Flask’s unique TempShield insulation keeps their drinks ice cold for a full 24 hours. Parents: all of these are dishwasher safe and come with a lifetime warranty, so you can feel great about ditching those single use plastic bottles
O2Cool Fan, $8.99: Both of my kids don’t leave home on a hot day without this product. Perfect for cooling off, these are a fun accessory that kids love to have at camp.
Top Trendz Masks, starting at $6: As kids are not yet vaccinated, many camps have some sort of masking policy for the summer. We love Top Trendz masks (and so do kids!) They come in fun patterns and are also lightweight and easy to wear. Pair it with a mask chain so that your camper doesn’t lose them. (But make sure to label them!)
North Face Borealis Mini Backpack, $59: A reliable, sturdy option for your kids to take their kids to and from camp OR to carry around camp on a daily basis.
Water Shoes: Especially if there is a lake at camp, these are a must. We love these from Speedo—you can pick them up on your next Target run!
PackIt Freezable Lunch Bag, $21.99: If you’re packing a lunch for day camp, this is a MUST. It freezes overnight and then keeps the contents of your kids lunches cool for the entire day.
