We are celebrating Women’s History Month here at BCB by spotlighting a few special women AND women owned businesses. First up is Naina Jain from Marigoldbub! Read our interview below to find out her #momhacks and how she does it all.

Naina Jain

-Name of company?

Marigoldbub LLC

-IG handle?

-Kid(s) and Ages?

Boy, 4 years old and Girl, almost 2

-Where do you live/are you located?

Nashville, TN

-What would someone be surprised to learn about you?

I grew up in India and moved to the United States when I was 13; often I feel like I live in two different worlds at the same time! I am fluent in Hindi.

-What’s at least one regular family routine you have implemented to keep your family running  smooth (i.e. family dinner time every night, family meeting every Sunday night etc)?

Shared family calendar both digitally and physically – it helps us plan and know what events, birthdays, games, are coming up, etc.

-Who is in your mom/parent tribe and how did you meet them?

Other moms from my kids school; we moved to Nashville in the midst of the pandemic and built community through parents in my children’s classroom. I am also part of a few local facebook mom groups and continue to meet out with them for playdates/mom dates/etc.

-What is one piece of advice for new parents that you wish someone told you before  parenthood?

Prioritize yourself, it is very easy to let this your kiddo completely take over (who wouldn’t do that), but I have found that can be very draining. Even if it is 5 minutes in each day, keep that time for yourself.

-When you have time to yourself, what do you like to do?

Yoga, running, reading, learning about ayurveda and binging on tv shows.

-What is the best part of your kids ages RIGHT NOW?

Their sweetness and innocence.

-What do you miss most from pre-pandemic life?

Ability to travel; pre-pandemic we traveled quite extensively and that has halted. I am ready to get back on the road/sky/train.

-How and why did you start your business?

I started my business after my second child was born. I found myself recreating in the kitchen ayurvedic recipes I had grown up with for both food and topical solutions (my daughter had real terrible infant eczema and nothing worked, so I reached for nature).

-When did you start your business? How has the pandemic affected it?

I started my business in the midst of the pandemic, the research and conversations began in 2020 and actual registration and website went live in 2021. While social has been great, pandemic has limited the ability to expand and meet parents/doulas/midwives.

-How might your business change when the pandemic is over (if at all)?

I am looking forward to connecting with folks in person! I think in person conversation offers a connection that can often be lost online.

-What would someone be surprised to learn about your business?

I do all the content creation and management myself, everything on my instagram, blogs, facebook page is written by me!

-What is one piece of advice for new business owners that you wish someone told you beforehand?

Be Patient with yourself. When you see the vision, you tend to run 100 miles an hour and it can be hard when things don’t move as fast as you do, a reminder everyday to focus on progress.

-When you have time to yourself, what do you like to do that isn’t business related?

Read, practice the piano (I am taking lessons and it is one my goals to be able to play before my kids turn 5), be outside in nature!

-How do you handle running your business and raising your children? Any #parenthacks to share?

I am a master planner! My husband I have a family calendar when we plan things out in advance, it is all laid out with reminders.

-Do you have parent guilt? How do you combat it?

I have it all the time; every time I spend time away from my child I think that they will only be little for so long and I am missing out on precious time. I have to keep reminding myself that I can’t give from an empty vessel so I need fill myself up in order to give to others. I have to nurture myself in order to nurture others!

-Last show you binged?

Queen’s Gambit

-Last book you read?

One to Watch

-Go-To (Family) Dinner?

A mix of various Indian foods

-Favorite Adult Beverage?

-Favorite Take out?

-Favorite Dessert?

I’m not much of a dessert person
