-Tell us a little about yourself and your company:
We are three dads committed to making nutritious, quality snacks that are full in flavor and we can be proud to serve our family and yours.
-What was your “aha” moment that made you decide to start your company?
The three of us struggled with finding healthy yet flavorful snacks to feed our kids. We felt that there were snacks out there that were either healthy and didn’t taste good or snacks that were not healthy but tasted delicious. We struggled to find snacks on store shelves that were both flavorful AND nutritious.
The idea for creating a nutritionally superior popcorn came about after we, three good friends (and now dads!), living in vastly different parts of the country, got together and discussed the shared challenge of making healthy snacking easier and more accessible for our families. We realized that independently we had gotten in the habit of putting nutritional yeast on our popcorn in an effort to sneak in fiber, protein, Iron, B12 and all the other amazing goodness nutritional yeast offers. Our recipes varied, but the basics were the same, and when we realized there was nothing like this at a commercial scale Three Dads Natural Foods was born!
-What is one piece of advice you would give to someone starting a new business?
We think it’s important to stay humble and don’t be afraid to fail. There are going to be so many ups and downs when starting a business and failing along the way is just part of the process.
-Do you have any #dadhacks/ #parenthacks to share that makes this easier?
We know the struggle with trying to get kids to eat a variety of healthy foods. We get our kids involved early on from helping to cook in the kitchen to picking out new recipes to try. We find the more they are involved in the process, the more they will be open to trying new things.
-Name one regular routine you have implemented to keep your family running smooth.
Adam – Game nights with the family.
Eric – Cooking together as often as possible.
Noel – Family Sunday’s at the beach together.
-What is one piece of advice for new parents that you wish someone told you before parenthood?
They say the days are long, but the years are short. It’s so true. Enjoy it all, the good, bad, ups and downs. Your kids grow up so fast that you’ll want to look back and make sure you made the most of all your time together.
-When you have time to yourself, what do you do to unwind?
Adam – play hockey
Eric – cook
Noel – hang @ the beach
-What is one baby/child product you can’t live without?
Look for clothes & swaddle blankets with zippers or velcro! Makes it much easier on us dads.
